Whited to Present Keynote for Safety Awards Breakfast

The Orrville Area Safety Council will honor area companies who are committed to maintaining a safe workplace at the Third Annual CEO and Safety Awards Breakfast at The Pines Golf Club on May 8.
 
Keynote address will be presented by Andrew Whited, Regional Safety Health & Environmental Manager at Bekaert Corporation. 

Whited serves as a member of the Bekaert North America Leadership Team and Global Safety Health & Environmental Team. He led the successful implementation of “BeCare” at Bekaert Orrville and continues to drive the organization in embedding the ambition of fostering an interdependent caring culture in his current role as Regional Manager.

BeCare, Bekaert's global safety excellence program, was designed as a roadmap to realize the company safety objectives. This roadmap has assisted the corporation to define and implement the safety practices that benefit all Bekaert locations worldwide and ultimately, lead to better safety performance and a true safety culture.
Additionally, fifty seven awards from the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation Division of Safety and Hygiene will be presented by Michelle Francisco, Ohio Safety Council Program Manager, in the following categories:
- Group Award (for the lowest incident in each group)
- 100 Percent Award (for each company that worked the entire year without a lost-time injury),
- Achievement Award (for each company that decreased its incident rate by at least 25 percent from the previous year)
- Special Award (for each company that has accumulated at least 500,000 hours and operated at least six months without a lost-time injury within a year).
 
 
Steve Penrod, chairman of the Orrville Area Safety Council Steering Committee, is excited to present the first Everyday Safety Hero Award. This new recognition honors an individual employee who has championed workplace safety and health excellence in their respective workplace.
