If you have even one employee, you are required to comply with many employment and labor laws. 

As a Human Resources Manager, you have a lot of responsibilities and keeping up on all the laws is challenging - especially when they keep changing.

The attorney's at Critchfield, Critchfield and Johnston, that are engaged in the labor and employment practice have extensive experience advising and representing clients, primarily employers, in all areas of law and employment law.

A panel of legal experts from CCJ will share insights in their areas of expertise at the November 15 HR Connections session.  A key part of the panel will be answering questions from the audience.  Employer privacy is an important consideration and participants are encouraged to submit their questions in advance at the time of registration, or by anonymous submission to the Orrville Area Chamber of Commerce.

  • Litigation of wrongful termination claims
  • Representation of clients before the Ohio Civil Rights Commission and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission relating to employment discrimination charges
  • Negotiation of collective bargaining agreements
  • Processing and arbitration of grievances
  • Supervision of campaigns and elections of labor organizations
  • Consultation and representation related to wage and hour issues, including overtime, employment classifications and Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) matters
  • Education of supervisors and employees related to work place harassment and hostile work environment
  • Consultation and representation related to executive compensation
  • Consultation and representation related to severance agreements
  • Implementation and review of employment contracts, policies and handbooks
  • Consultation and representation related to terminations, severance agreements, layoffs and reductions in force (RIF’s)
  • Participation in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), in investigations, negotiation of OSHA citations related to other OSHA issues and representation of clients before the Department of Labor in OSHA trials, and consultation related to other OSHA issued
  • Consultation and representation related to workers' compensation matters for both state-funded and self-insured employers
